Madi did a short set and was accompanied by Chris Evans on guitar and Jake Lawless on Bass from the Canadian group “The Chris Evans Band”. She performed a couple of songs including an original written by her teacher Nicole Thibodeau called “My Way”. She absolutely won the crowd over. The Chris Evans Band also performed after Madi’s performance and proved to be very talented group minus their drummer Ben Evans who had to watch from the sidelines. Apparently due to the tight quarters there was no room for his drum set. They performed a couple of great songs called “I Do” and “Shade of Gray”.
Madi had been touring all week with her vocal school group “The Pop Shop” and her very energetic teacher Nicole Thibodeau. During Madi’s trip to Tennessee she performed at many places including Graceland, The Grand Ole Opry, and Legends Corner Bar on Broadway. She also met Robert Reynolds of “The Mavericks” in which she had done a Songwriting Boot Camp that he hosted. Madi said the highlight of her trip was singing while standing on the famous circle on The Grand Ole Opry stage. She went back stage and learned quite a bit about the history of “The Grand Ole Opry”. She is a fan of some of the greats who have graced the “Opry” stage. She lists Patsy Cline, Dollly Parton, Carrie Underwood, and Alison Krauss as some of her biggest influences. She also enjoyed performing at Graceland even though it was extremely hot. Madi said, “I have become a bit of an Elvis fan now”.
Even though she loves singing, it wasn’t all work while she was in Tennessee. Madi, her parents David and Denise, and her sister Rebecca visited the Nashville Zoo, Nashville Shores water park, attended a performance of the “The Grand Ole Opry”, took a tour of some of the star’s homes, and walked around Downtown Nashville and visited some of the famous spots so many of her heros had probably performed at one point in time.
I recently contacted Madi after her return home to Canada and asked her what she thought about her recent trip to Music City. Madi said “I absolutely loved Nashville. I would be living there right now if I could”. She also said “she had fun and learned a lot”. “Everything in Nashville is Amazing” exclaimed Madi. “The essence of Nashville is what it’s all about”. I asked her what her plans and dreams were for the future and Madi simply replied “My dreams for life are to be an entertainer, through singing, modeling and acting, it’s all so much fun to do.”
